England 2-0 Ukraine: Saka illuminates England once more

England defeated Ukraine 2-0, with goals from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.

Bukayo Saka's development as a golden talent for Arsenal and England is accelerating to the point where special moments are no longer surprising.

England had toiled for 37 minutes in the face of a well-organised Ukraine, with Saka shining brightly and offering the best chance of a breakthrough as he tormented Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko.

Saka duly delivered with an inviting cross that deflected to Harry Kane at the far post for his 55th goal for England, extending his all-time record set in the 2-1 opening qualifying win over Italy in Naples.

"Football is always enjoyable. I just hope the joy lasts until the end of the season "Saka, who has recovered magnificently from missing a decisive penalty in the Euro 2020 final shootout and was subjected to racist abuse, stated on Sunday.

Saka is now one of England's young indispensable talents, along with Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, a trio that manager Gareth Southgate will rely on until, at the very least, Euro 2024.

He is a future world-class player. Some might argue, with justification, that he is already at that elite level.

Captain Kane was presented with a Golden Boot before the game in recognition of his 54th goal in Italy, which broke the country's scoring record.

And he began to extend the record even further by bundling home the crucial first run. It wasn't pretty, but it demonstrated how important Kane is to England with his natural shooting ability - and his leadership.

England leads Group C with six points, and with a game against Malta coming up in June, the path to the Germany finals appears to be clear.

But, according to Saka, nothing will be taken for granted.

"I believe we've shown great maturity. We can't just skip over these games and expect to be in the Euros. We must first qualify "He stated.
